Thanks to President Biden’s bipartisan infrastructure bill, multiple states will be able to improve and upgrade vital infrastructure. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will fund a variety of projects, such as an accessible framework of electric vehicle chargers, decreasing infrastructural impacts from climate change, accessible clean drinking water, and providing high speed internet in states like Arizona.

Earlier this month, President Biden claimed that 20 local and national network companies such as AT&T, Cox Communication, and Verizon would assist to reduce the cost of internet bills to $30 a month for eligible households.

“High-speed internet is not a luxury any longer. It’s a necessity,” Biden said earlier this month. The new discounts and expanded access will “change people’s lives.”

According to the White House, about 48 million households, or nearly 40% of the total US households, are eligible for the Affordable Connectivity Program.

The 20 communication providers will cover roughly 80% of the households in this initiative.
